What you need to know

  • EFR Primary and Secondary Care training – e‑learning materials, classroom instruction and hands‑on practice (CPR, rescue breathing, AED, bandaging and splinting).
  • PADI Rescue Diver e‑Learning and knowledge reviews.
  • Confined‑water sessions to practise self‑rescue, panicked diver approaches, tired‑diver tows and unconscious diver recovery.
  • Open‑water scenario dives in Dibba Al‑Fujairah, including search patterns, missing‑diver drills, in‑water rescue breathing and boat extractions.
  • Use of rescue equipment – pocket masks, oxygen kits, floats and marker buoys.
  • Certification fees for both Rescue Diver and EFR.
  • Light refreshments during training.
  • Transportation to training sites (Dubai pool/classroom and Dibba Al‑Fujairah).

  • PADI Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent) with an Underwater Navigation dive.
  • CPR/first‑aid training within the last 24 months (EFR can be completed concurrently).
  • Minimum age 12 years (Junior Rescue certification for ages 12–14).
  • Good physical health and comfort in water – you should be able to tread water and swim.
  • Time commitment: 3–4 days, including one day of EFR and 2–3 days of rescue scenarios.
  • Must complete all knowledge reviews, confined‑water exercises and open‑water scenarios to earn certification.
  • Swimwear and towel.
  • Logbook and current certification card(s).
  • Reef‑safe sunscreen, water bottle and energy snacks.
  • Comfortable clothing for classroom sessions.

  1. Emergency First Response (Day 1): Complete e‑learning, attend classroom session and practise CPR, AED use and bandaging.
  2. Rescue theory: Work through the PADI e‑Learning modules covering dive stress, emergency equipment and rescue techniques.
  3. Confined‑water practice: Practise self‑rescue skills, panicked diver approaches, tired‑diver tows and unconscious diver surfacing.
  4. Open‑water scenarios: Execute rescue exercises in Dibba Al‑Fujairah – missing‑diver searches, in‑water rescue breaths while towing, boat extractions and emergency management drills.
  5. Continuing education: After certification, consider Emergency Oxygen Provider, Deep Diver or Divemaster training.
  • Course length: 2–3 days for Rescue Diver plus one full day for EFR (can be taken together or separately).
  • Flexible start times at 9 AM, 12 PM or 3 PM.
  • Confined‑water sessions take place in a pool in Dubai; open‑water scenarios are conducted in Fujairah.
  • Group size: up to four students per instructor.
  • EFR certification must be renewed every 24 months to stay current.
  • Rescue Diver certification is valid for life.
  • This course is physically demanding; participants should have a moderate fitness level.
  • Junior divers (ages 12–14) receive a Junior Rescue certification with depth limits.
  • All scenarios emphasise safety; instructors may modify training to suit environmental conditions.

Yes. A valid CPR/First Aid certificate (last 24 months) is required. Don’t have one? We can conduct the Emergency First Response (EFR) course for you right here at Nemo before your Rescue training begins.
