After completing the required dives and course performance standards, divers earn a night diving certification through the PADI Night Diver specialty. As a recognized night diver specialty, this course is also a strong addition to your continuing dive education and can contribute toward broader specialty and experience goals.

  • Standard dive gear including dive computer and SMB, plus a backup torch if you own one.
  • Warm clothing for surface intervals (jacket or hoodie) and a hat.
  • Swimwear, towel and a change of clothes.
  • Reef‑safe sunscreen for any daylight portion of the trip.
  •  A sense of adventure, night diving is unfamiliar at first but soon becomes addictive.
  1. Briefing & equipment setup: Meet your instructor after sunset to discuss light etiquette, navigation, buddy contact and safety protocols.
  2. Night Dive 1: Practise entries/exits, torch use and buddy signals; focus on comfort and orientation in the dark.
  3. Night Dive 2: Work on navigation using a compass and natural references; observe nocturnal life and bioluminescence.
  4. Night Dive 3: Take turns leading part of the dive; refine buoyancy and communication while exploring deeper terrain.
  5. Debrief & certification: Share highlights, log marine life and receive feedback. Complete your Night Diver paperwork.
  • Duration: Two to three evenings; each session lasts around 3 hours including briefing, dive and debrief.
  • Timing: Departures typically occur shortly after sunset (around 6 PM). Return by 9–10 PM.
  • Group size: Small groups of up to four divers ensure safety and an intimate experience.
  • Location: Night dives take place on reef or wall sites in Dibba Al‑Fujairah and Musandam, selected for calm conditions and abundant nocturnal life.
  • Night diving requires good buoyancy and situational awareness; practise day dives first if you’re uncertain.
  • You must follow your instructor’s light and buddy procedures to avoid disorientation.
  • Night dives remain within your existing certification depth limits (18 m for Open Water, 30 m for Advanced). Do not exceed them.
  • Bioluminescent plankton often appear when you wave your hand or cover your torch. Turn off lights briefly to enjoy the glow.
  • Bring a towel and warm layers—surface intervals can feel chilly after night dives.
