About the Course

Being prepared to help in a medical emergency is essential for divers and non‑divers alike. Nemo’s Emergency First Response (EFR) course teaches internationally recognised primary and secondary care skills in a calm, supportive environment. In one day, you’ll learn CPR, rescue breathing, first aid, AED use and injury management so you can respond confidently in emergencies. EFR certification is required for PADI Rescue Diver and is valid for two years. Once you’re EFR certified, the natural next step is the PADI Rescue Diver course, which requires this certification. You’ll find it alongside Advanced Open Water Diver in our Continuing Education Course in Dubai lineup. Many students combine their new first aid skills with a Fujairah Morning Dive trip soon after. How to Earn your Scuba Diving Certification

What you need to know

  • PADI EFR e‑Learning or manual with knowledge reviews.
  • Classroom instruction covering emergency theory.
  • Hands‑on workshop using CPR manikins, AED trainer units, bandages and splints.
  • Certification processing and digital EFR card valid for two years.
  • Tea, coffee and light refreshments during the session.
  • Transportation to the training location.
  • Meals beyond light refreshments.
  • Personal first‑aid kit (optional to bring).
  • Emergency Oxygen Provider training (available separately).
  • Accommodation or travel expenses.
  • Dive insurance (not required for EFR).
  • Primary care (CPR): Rescue breathing, chest compressions, AED use and barrier technique.
  • Secondary care (first aid): Injury assessment, wound bandaging, splints, shock management and spinal injury precautions.
  • Disease transmission prevention and personal safety.
  • Decision‑making under pressure and prioritising care in multi‑casualty incidents.
  • How to practise and refresh skills so you remain confident and prepared.
  • No minimum or diving certification required, open to anyone who wants to learn first aid.
  • Complete all e‑learning modules and hands‑on practicals.
  • Time commitment: about 4–8 hours, including online study and a 3–5‑hour workshop.
  • Pass a simple knowledge check and demonstrate basic skills.
  • Certification is valid for two years; periodic refreshers are encouraged.
  • Comfortable clothing suitable for kneeling and practising CPR.
  • Water bottle and light snacks if needed.
  • Notebook and pen for taking notes.
  • Optional: your own AED or first‑aid kit to familiarise yourself with your equipment.
