What you need to know

  • Classroom and pool sessions to refine knowledge and water skills.
  • Open‑water dives and internships assisting instructors and guiding real divers.
  • Use of tanks, weights and logistical support.
  • Mapping and site management projects, risk assessments and problem‑solving exercises.
  • Mentorship from IDC Staff Instructors and Course Directors.
  • Certification processing and professional guidance on career pathways.
  • PADI Divemaster e-learning or manuals covering dive theory and professional standards.
  • Personal dive gear – divemasters must own a full set of equipment (BCD, regulator, wetsuit, mask, fins, computer, compass, SMB).
  • Dive insurance and PADI professional membership fees (required after certification).
  • Accommodation, meals and transportation.
  • Additional courses (e.g., EFR Instructor) beyond the Divemaster curriculum.
  • Personal expenses such as visa fees or work permits.
  • Dive theory: physics, physiology, decompression theory, equipment and environment.

  • PADI Rescue Diver certification and EFR Primary & Secondary Care within the last 24 months.
  • At least 40 logged dives to start the course and 60 dives to certify.
  • Medical clearance and physical fitness.
  • Time commitment: 7–15 days, depending on internship length.
  • Completion of all knowledge reviews, water skills assessments, practical applications and final evaluations.
  • Full set of personal dive gear, including dive computer, compass and SMB.
  • Certification cards, logbook and medical form.
  • Passport‑sized photos and ID for PADI registration.
  • Water bottle, snacks and reef‑safe sunscreen.
  • Notebook and pens for theory sessions.
  • Knowledge development: Complete e‑learning or classroom sessions on dive theory and leadership.
  • Water skills assessments: Demonstrate stamina (swims, snorkel tests), rescue skills and buoyancy control.
  • Practical applications: Conduct mapping projects, equipment exchange and problem‑solving scenarios.

Your underwater journey starts here

While we cannot guarantee a job, we have a strong network. Many of our best interns are hired directly by Nemo or referred to partner centers in the UAE and Maldives.
Absolutely. Most of our candidates have full-time jobs. We build a flexible schedule around your weekends and evenings. There is no deadline to finish.
As a professional, you are expected to own basic gear (Mask, Fins, Computer, SMB) by the end. Rental BCDs and Regs are provided during training, with candidate discounts available for purchase.
You can teach Skin Diver, Snorkeling, and conduct ReActivate programs. You also assist Instructors with Open Water students.
The course fee covers training and materials. However, PADI charges a direct application fee (approx. AUD 260) payable directly to them upon completion. This is standard worldwide.
You need to be in good health. There are swim tests (400m swim, 800m snorkel, 15min tread), but they are achievable for anyone with average fitness.
