Head beyond the Dubai coastline with Nemo Diving Center’s diving trips in Musandam, Oman. Sitting on the Gulf of Oman side of the peninsula, Musandam offers a completely different diving environment from Dubai’s Persian Gulf, with a boat-based itinerary built for divers who want more time on the water and a change of scenery from our usual sites.
We run two Musandam trip formats, both departing by boat and run under Nemo Diving Center’s PADI 5-Star standards. Musandam’s fjords cut deep into the Omani coastline, creating sheltered bays with limestone cliffs above and below the water. Because most sites offer both an exposed and a sheltered side, they stay diveable in a wide range of conditions, divers simply move to the calmer face of the rock when needed.
The Day Diving Trip in Musandam departs at 7 AM for a full 10-hour day on the water, ideal for divers who want the Musandam experience without committing to an overnight trip. For those who want more time exploring, the Overnight Diving Trip in Musandam runs as a 3-day, 2-night dhow safari, departing 10:30 PM Thursday or 6 PM Saturday. This trip requires an Advanced Open Water certification, and includes a dedicated night dive alongside daytime dives.
Both trips visit Lima Rock, a limestone pinnacle whose walls drop to about 12 metres before boulder fields continue past 60 metres, known for hard coral gardens and passing tuna, jacks, and manta rays. Nearby, Octopus Rock, nicknamed the “marine zoo” for how much life concentrates around it, drops steeply to a mixed rock-and-sand floor where stingrays, nurse sharks, and leopard sharks are regularly spotted. Both sites run 5–15 metre visibility, with depths from 12 to 60 metres depending on how far you explore.
