How to Earn your Scuba Diving Certification

Go beyond air and nitrox with Tec Trimix, where helium enters your breathing gas to reduce narcosis and unlock true deep diving. Nemo offers both Tec Trimix 65 (normoxic, to 65 meters) and Full Trimix (hypoxic, 75-90 meters), each requiring advanced gas planning, multiple decompression gases, and rigorous emergency drills. With at least four dives per level and dedicated Tec Instructor Trainers guiding you, you’ll gain the skills to explore deep wrecks and walls once out of reach. Ready to push past 50 meters? Enroll today and begin your Trimix training with Nemo.

What you need to know

  • Trimix course manual and gas planning materials (normoxic and hypoxic levels).
  • Gas analysis tools and helium/nitrox fills for training dives.
  • Use of technical equipment: twin sets, stage cylinders, decompression regulators, long‑hose harnesses and bailout cylinders.
  • At least four open‑water dives with an instructor and surface support team, gradually increasing depth.
  • Certification processing for Trimix 65 and Full Trimix, depending on the package chosen.
  • Travel and accommodation for remote dive sites (Musandam, Red Sea or Mediterranean) and boat fees.
  • Personal technical gear (suits, computers, reels) beyond what is provided for training.
  • Dive insurance (mandatory for trimix courses) and helium surcharges.
  • Meals and personal expenses.
  • Previous Tec 50 or Tec Trimix certifications (you must meet prerequisites separately).
  • Trimix 65: Plan and execute normoxic trimix dives to 65 m using helium to reduce narcosis; manage three or more decompression gases; handle deep gas switches; practise emergency drills and rescue procedures.
  • Full Trimix: Progress to hypoxic mixes to reach 75–90 m with careful oxygen management; coordinate surface support and shot‑line deployment; refine rescue techniques for extremely deep dives.
  • Throughout both levels, you’ll master equipment  configuration, gas blending, contingency planning and teamwork.
  • Gain the confidence to explore deep wrecks, walls and caves once inaccessible on air or nitrox.
  • Prerequisites: For Trimix 65: PADI Tec 50 (or equivalent), minimum 100 logged technical dives including significant decompression experience; age 18+; medical clearance. For Full Trimix: completion of Trimix 65 and extensive tec diving experience.
  • Completion of theory modules, confined‑water skills and at least four open‑water dives.
  • Demonstrate competence with gas switching, equipment handling, emergency procedures and surface support coordination.
  • Each level results in a separate certification; you must progress sequentially.
  • Personal technical gear if owned: dry‑suit or thick wetsuit, long‑hose regulators, cutting tools, dive computer capable of multiple gases, reels and spools.
  • Certification cards and logbook demonstrating required dives.
  • Passport and travel documents for dives conducted outside the UAE.
  • Water, high‑energy snacks and reef‑safe sunscreen.
  • A strong commitment to training, physical fitness and mental focus.
  1. Consultation & custom plan: Contact Nemo to discuss your goals (Trimix 65, Full Trimix or both) and schedule a training itinerary.
  2. Theory & planning: Complete gas theory, oxygen exposure calculations and contingency planning using software.
  3. Confined or dry drills: Practise equipment configuration, gas switching and emergency simulations.
  4. Open‑water dives: Conduct at least four dives, progressively increasing depth; Trimix 65 dives reach 65 m; Full Trimix dives range from 75–90 m.
  5. Debrief & progression: Review performance after each dive, adjust plans and prepare for the next level or expedition.
  • Duration: Trimix 65 typically requires four days; Full Trimix takes five to six days. Additional days may be scheduled for weather or skill refinement.
  • Scheduling: Custom dates based on conditions, logistics and student readiness.
  •  Group size: Maximum two divers per instructor to ensure safety and personalised instruction.
  • Location: Deep training sites in Musandam; deeper modules may require travel to the Red Sea or Mediterranean for suitable depths.
  • Helium is expensive and subject to market fluctuations; course fees reflect gas costs and logistics.
  • Technical diving at these depths carries significant risks; you must be mentally and physically prepared.
  • Trimix training is sequential; you cannot skip Trimix 65 and move directly to Full Trimix.
  • Surface support teams and chase boats are used for deeper dives; follow all protocols.
  • Once qualified, you’ll open up a world of exploration, including deep wrecks and cave systems.
