How to Earn your Scuba Diving Certification

Learn about scuba diving principles and terminology (either in-person or online), then learn basic scuba skills in a pool (or pool-like environment) with a highly trained Nemo Instructor. When you’re ready, make four dives in an open water environment (the ocean, a lake) with your instructor supporting you every step of the way.

What you need to know

  • Five adventure dives with a PADI‑certified instructor
  • All equipment rental, dive computer, and compass
  • Course manual/eLearning and certification fees
  • Boat trip with two recreational dives in Fujairah
  • Snacks and soft drinks on board
  • Log book and certification processing
  • Transport between Dubai and Fujairah (can be booked separately)
  • Optional extras such as nitrox cylinders, underwater photos, private guides, or Deep Dive Dubai sessions
  • Meals beyond snacks and drinks on the boat
  • Accommodation if you choose to stay overnight in Fujairah
  • Deep‑dive planning, gas management, and emergency considerations
  • Underwater navigation with compass and natural clues
  • Buoyancy fine‑tuning for better control and air consumption
  • Specialist adventure dives of your choice (e.g., Wreck Diving, Fish Identification,  Peak‑Performance Buoyancy, Boat Diving, or Night Diving)
  • Boat‑diving procedures, reef etiquette, and environmental awareness
  •  Valid PADI Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent)
  •  Minimum age 12 years
  • Good health and comfortable swimming ability; complete a medical questionnaire
  • Completion of eLearning or knowledge reviews before dives

All scuba gear is provided for both the course and the trip:

  • Mask, snorkel, fins, and wetsuit
  • Buoyancy Control Device (BCD), regulators, tanks, and weights
  • Dive computer, compass, and slate
  • Log book and certification processing
  • Boat equipped with drinking water and soft drinks

You should bring swimwear, a towel, reef‑safe sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses. If you’re prone to seasickness, take motion‑sickness tablets before boarding. Have your passport and/or Emirates ID available if travelling from Dubai.

Day 1 – Adventure Dives 1 & 2

  1. Complete eLearning or knowledge reviews for the Advanced course.
  2. Plan your elective adventure dives with your instructor.
  3. Conduct two adventure dives (often Peak Performance Buoyancy and Underwater Navigation) at local dive sites.

Day 2 – Deep Dive, Electives & Review

  1. Review deep‑diving theory, gas management, and safety protocols.
  2. Conduct the Deep Dive to 30 m.
  3. Complete two more elective adventure dives (e.g., Wreck, Night, or Fish ID) and log them.
  4. Debrief and complete knowledge reviews.

Day 3 – Fujairah Dive Trip

  1. Depart early for Fujairah (transport can be arranged). Check in at the marina and board the dive boat.
  2. First recreational dive at a Fujairah reef (depth up to 30 m). Practise your new skills and enjoy the marine life.
  3. Surface interval with snacks and drinks on the boat; relax, snorkel, or sunbathe.
  4. Second recreational dive at another site such as Sharm Rock, Martini Rock, or Car Cemetery.

Return to port, log your dives, and receive your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification card if all requirements are met.

  • Course sessions: daily at 9 AM, 12 PM, and 3 PM, each lasting 2–3 hours.
  • Fujairah trip: scheduled in consultation with your instructor; typically a full‑day outing.
  • You must hold an Open Water Diver certification or equivalent.
  • Minimum age is 12 years.
  • Read the first two chapters of the e‑Learning course before starting in‑water sessions.
  • Course completion typically takes 2–3 days, but you can spread the dives over 6 months.
  • Always dive with a qualified buddy and follow your instructor’s safety briefings.
