The southern Red Sea offers pristine coral and remote reefs. St John’s features cathedral‑like caverns lit by shafts of light, while Fury Shoals boasts maze‑like tunnels and mushroom pinnacles. Sataya Dolphin Reef is a horseshoe lagoon where spinner dolphins gather daily. Visibility often exceeds 30 m and water temperatures reach 28 °C in late summer. Expect sightings of grey reef sharks, Napoleon wrasse and the occasional hammerhead at Gota Soraya. This itinerary is ideal for divers seeking uncrowded reefs and a glimpse of Egypt’s southern wilderness.

  • Advanced Open Water certification recommended; some caves have overhead environments.
  • Water temps ~27–29 °C; a 3 mm wetsuit with hood is sufficient.
  • Currents are generally mild but can vary; a dive torch is necessary for caverns.
  • Respect marine life especially dolphins at Sataya (no chasing/touching).
