How to Earn your Scuba Diving Certification

Learn about scuba diving principles and terminology (either in-person or online), then learn basic scuba skills in a pool (or pool-like environment) with a highly trained Nemo Instructor. When you’re ready, make four dives in an open water environment (the ocean, a lake) with your instructor supporting you every step of the way.

What you need to know

  • All training materials and PADI certification fees
  • Confined‑water sessions and four open‑water training dives
  • Full equipment rental for the course and the trip
  • Professional instruction and guided dives
  • Use of a dive boat for two recreational dives in Fujairah
  • Light snacks and soft drinks on the boat
  • Log book for recording dives
  • Transport between Dubai and Fujairah (available as an add‑on)
  • Meals beyond light snacks and drinks on the boat
  • Underwater photography/video services and personal dive insurance
  • Nitrox cylinders (available at an extra cost)
  • Accommodation if you wish to stay overnight in Fujairah
  • Assembling and using scuba equipment, performing pre‑dive safety checks
  • Mastering buoyancy, breathing, and underwater communication
  • Dealing with common problems such as mask clearing and regulator recovery
  • Dive planning, buddy procedures, and emergency protocols
  • Boat‑diving etiquette, reef‑safe practices, and navigation basics
  • Practising dive logging and debriefing
  • Minimum age 10 years (Junior certification for ages 10–14 with depth limits)
  • Ability to swim 200 m and float for 10 minutes
  • Good general health and clearance on a medical questionnaire
  • Parental/guardian consent for participants under 18

All scuba equipment is provided for both the course and the trip, including mask, fins, snorkel, wetsuit, BCD, regulators, tanks, weights, and dive computer. You’ll also receive course materials, log book, and certification processing. During the trip, our boat is equipped with drinking water and soft drinks. Please bring swimwear, a towel, reef‑safe sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and any motion‑sickness medication if you’re prone to seasickness. Bring your passport and/or Emirates ID if travelling from Dubai to Fujairah for border checks.

Day 1 – Theory & Pool Sessions

  1. Complete eLearning modules or classroom sessions on dive physics, physiology, and equipment.
  2. Practise assembling gear and performing buddy checks.
  3. Learn basic skills in confined water: mask and regulator clearing, buoyancy control, fin‑pivoting, and air‑sharing techniques.

Day 2 – Open‑Water Dives 1 & 2

  1. Conduct your first two open‑water training dives (12 m max). You’ll practise skills learned in the pool and begin exploring a shallow reef.
  2. Log your dives and review knowledge with your instructor.

Day 3 – Open‑Water Dives 3 & 4 + Exam

  1. Complete the final two training dives up to 18 m, focusing on neutral buoyancy, navigation, and safety procedures.
  2. Take the final exam and review dive theory.
  3. Receive your PADI Open Water Diver certification.

Day 4 – Fujairah Dive Trip

  1. Early morning departure to Fujairah (transport can be arranged). Meet at the marina and board the dive boat.
  2. Safety briefing, gear set‑up, and boat orientation.
  3. First dive: explore a coral reef such as Dibba Rock to around 12–18 m with your dive guide.
  4. Surface interval: relax on the boat, enjoy light snacks and beverages, or snorkel around the reef.
  5. Second dive: visit another site like Sharm Rock, Martini Rock, or Car Cemetery, depending on conditions.
  6. Return to port, log your dives, and transfer back to Dubai.
  • Course sessions: daily at 9 AM, 12 PM, and 3 PM; sessions last approximately 2–3 hours.
  • Fujairah trip: typically starts early in the morning; exact timing will be coordinated with your instructor.
  • Participants must be able to swim and medically fit for diving..
  • Minimum age is 10 years (students younger than 15 receive a Junior Open Water certification).
  • Complete all required e‑Learning modules before the first in‑water session.
  • Dive sessions need not be consecutive but must be completed within 6 months of the first session.
  • Always follow the instructor’s guidance and respect marine life; collecting souvenirs or touching corals is prohibited.

Typically, three to four days to complete your certification, plus one additional day for the dive trip. You can schedule the trip immediately after your course or on a later date.
No. You must complete the four open‑water dives and pass the exam before joining the recreational trip. The trip is meant to celebrate and reinforce your new skills.
We choose sites based on weather and sea conditions. Popular reefs include Dibba Rock, Sharm Rock, Martini Rock, and Car Cemetery, each home to colourful corals, turtles, and tropical fish.
Transportation from Dubai to Fujairah is not included but can be arranged for an additional fee. You’re also welcome to self‑drive; allow about 90–120 minutes each way.
Yes! Non‑divers are welcome to join as snorkellers or observers. Please let us know in advance so we can reserve extra spots.
You’ll complete a standard dive‑medical questionnaire. If you answer “yes” to any conditions, you may need a doctor’s clearance.
