What you need to know

  • PADI Deep Diver e‑learning or manual for theory study.
  • Four training dives covering planning, narcosis management, redundant air supplies, deep navigation and ascent techniques.
  • One extra deep dive beyond the course requirements to consolidate skills and enjoy a favourite site.
  • Use of redundant air supplies (pony bottles or drop tanks), safety reels, ascent lines and SMBs.
  • Certification processing and refreshments during surface intervals.
  • Transportation to dive sites and border crossings (passport may be required for Musandam).
  • Personal dive kit including dive computer, redundant air system (if owned), mask, fins, wetsuit and SMB.
  • Nitrox upgrades (standard air is included; nitrox is optional).
  • Meals beyond snacks; lodging or travel costs.
  • Dive insurance (strongly recommended for deep courses).
  • Plan and conduct dives to 24–40 m, including gas management, gas matching and emergency ascent procedures.
  • Recognise and manage nitrogen narcosis and other physiological effects of depth.
  • Use redundant air supplies and drop tanks; execute controlled ascents and safety stops.
  • Deploy ascent lines and SMBs; perform deep navigation using a compass and natural features.
  • Observe colour and pressure changes at depth and record differences between depth gauges and computers.
  • Apply all knowledge on an extra deep dive, focusing on enjoyment and confidence rather than drills.
  • Prerequisites: PADI Adventure Diver (with Deep Adventure dive) or Advanced Open Water Diver; minimum age 15 years.
  • Comfortable diving to 30 m and managing buoyancy in deeper water.
  • Completion of four training dives and the extra deep dive.
  • Successful knowledge reviews and planning exercises.
  • This certification qualifies you to dive to 40 m and counts toward Master Scuba Diver.
  • Advanced certification card and logbook.
  • Dive computer capable of handling deep profiles and multiple gases (if using nitrox).
  • Redundant air system if you own one (pony bottle, stage cylinder) – Nemo provides if you don’t.
  • SMB, reel and whistle.
  • Passport (for Musandam), swimwear, towel, reef‑safe sunscreen and warm clothing.
  • Enroll & complete theory: Study deep‑diving physics, gas management and emergency procedures via e‑learning or manual.
  • Day 1: Conduct the first two training dives (24–30 m) covering planning, colour changes and emergency ascents.
  • Day 2: Complete dives three and four (30–40 m) focusing on navigation, redundant gas use and team procedures.
  • Day 3: Enjoy an extra deep dive to practise your skills without drills; explore a favourite deep site under instructor supervision.
  • Debrief & certification: Review all dives, discuss narcosis experiences and complete paperwork.
  • Duration: Approximately three days with four training dives and one extra dive.
  • Scheduling: Flexible; weekend courses available. Training dives may be split over multiple weekends upon request.
  • Group size: Limited to four divers per instructor for safety and personal attention.
  • Location: Deep sites in Dibba Al‑Fujairah or Musandam, depending on conditions and diver comfort.
  • This course is physically and mentally demanding; participants should be comfortable with deep dives and good air management.
  • The extra deep dive is for consolidation, not training. It allows you to enjoy deeper sites while supervised.
  • Depth limits (40 m) must not be exceeded. Junior divers and those under 15 cannot participate.
  • Consider combining this package with the Enriched Air Specialty to extend your bottom time at depth.
  • Deep diving is an excellent precursor to technical courses such as Tec 40 and Tec 45.
